Time for change

Tired.
Tired of being tired.
Tired of not being who I want to be
Of who I know I can be.
Knowing what I need to do
I will be doing this.
Watch and see
I will be doing this

Article published on thought catalog!!!!

I am so so happy to announce that an article I wrote on the stupid things people say to fat people got published on the thought catalog today!!

I wrote this article based on some things that have been said to me by other people and said to some of my friends dealing with similar struggles. The point is: you never know what is actually going on behind closed doors, and it's not right to assume all overweight people are created equally. Sometimes the (unsolicited) advice that you are giving to someone has been tried and tried over and over with no success. That's not to say people should refuse advice.. But I know, personally, I'd be more willing to take advice from like minded people that have been through the same things as myself. So here it is!

11 stupid things we say to fat people

it's nice to meet you.

I'm Simone.
I'm 25. I'm a leo. I'm a hairdresser. I live on Long Island. I'm engaged to be married this October. And I've been "fat" since as long as I can remember.
I have about a hundred opinions and feelings on what it's like to be a normal girl in a big body. I plan on letting loose, saying what needs to be said, and what millions of other fatgirls have been thinking for ages. And I'm also not going to apologize for not being politically correct - let's agree that from here on out, I will not be referring to any girls like me as "big" or "curvy" or "full figured" (which are all great adjectives) simply because I think those are terms we use to disguise how we really think of ourselves to the public. We consider ourselves, in our heads, fatgirls.
And there's nothing wrong with that!! But don't pretend like we haven't all had the days where we wake up and wonder what we did in a past life to be stuck in these bodies. We can't keep hiding the fact that we have a love/hate relationship with our bodies.
So strap yourself in, let's take this crazy ride together.

xoxo
